Hong Kong’ top health and commerce officials lead discourse on the city’s economic recovery at SCMP’s China Conference

Corporate chiefs, thought leaders, and academics attend SCMP’s flagship event on the immediate future on Hong Kong’s ambition to maintain its status as Asia’s financial center.

HONG KONG – The South China Morning Post’s successful ‘China Conference’ returns this week as an interactive virtual conference on 14-15 May with the focus of discussion on Hong Kong’s economic recovery.

Headlining the stellar list of panelists are top HKSAR officials Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Hon. Edward Yau Tang-wah and Secretary for Food and Health Hon. Prof. Sophia Chan Siu-chee. They will join the discourse on what the immediate economic future holds for the city in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak and its long-term position within the Greater China framework.

The theme for this edition of ‘China Conference: Hong Kong’ is “An Essential Revival”, which will gather insights and raise key concerns by business leaders, foreign officials, and global thought leaders regarding the city’s prestigious status as Asia’s financial center. The forum will also deliberate on how the city’s hardest-hit industries can recover, explore new avenues of growth, and overcome one of the toughest challenges in its history.

The event will bring together top minds from the business community, government officials and researchers from Hong Kong and the international markets such as Prof. Keiji Fukuda, Director of Division of Community Medicine and Public Health Practice at The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Yeoh Eng-kiong, Director of JC School of Public Health and Primary Care at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Tara Joseph, President of The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong; Dr. Daniel Yip, Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries; Peter Yan, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and Cindy Chow, Executive Director of Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund.
