The City of Santa Rosa in Laguna may be well-known today as an Investment Hub for business establishments in South Luzon, the Motor City of the Philippines and the Next Wave City of the country, but aside from these labels, not everyone seems familiar how rich, diverse and beautiful the culture of Santa Rosa was and is until now.
Thus, it’s just fitting to launch a heritage magazine that will educate and cultivate the history and heritage of Santa Rosa. At the helm of this milestone is the executive director of Kilusan ng Cuartel de Sto. Domingo, Gemalin Batino-Diaz, who also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, while Architect Mario C. Zavalla acts as the publisher.
In her message, City Mayor Arlene Arcillas said that she’s happy and proud that they were able to finally showcase the history and heritage of their beloved City through this Santa Rosa Heritage Magazine. “As a City Mayor, I wouldn’t want this beauty to just be forgotten nor be left behind. It has always been a part of the City and preserving it for the future generations to see is something that I wanted ever since,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Honorable Danilo “Dan” Fernandez, Deputy Speaker, 18th Congress, Representative, First District of Laguna conveyed his heart-warming message at the launch of Santa Rosa Heritage Magazine. He recalled with fondness the journey they went through to claim the Cuartel de Sto. Domingo, now a national historic site. Though he wasn’t born in Santa Rosa, he loves and cherished it like his very own.
Former Mayor Joey Catindig, Jr. of Santa Rosa also graced the event. Seasoned speakers, Architect Tzarina Saldana and Derrick Manas provided insights about the city of Santa Rosa.
SRH magazine has a 56-page for its maiden issue featuring the main story on the history of Santa Rosa Laguna, Ang Bantayan, The Four Lions of Santa Rosa, Hacienda, Campana and the Cuartel de Santo Domingo. Also featured are the inspirational messages of Former Mayor Jose “Joey” Catindig, Jr., Former Mayor Roberto “Tito” Gonzales, Cong. Danilo “Dan” Ramon S. Fernandez, and current Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas.
